Last month The Glam Hatters were asked to host a corporate event for The Gallery In Sutton Street, Clerkenwell as part of Clerkenwell Design Week. We taught 10 of Clerkenwell’s finest creatives to free their spirit and make beautiful headpieces.

Clerkenwell is a stones throw from our Exmouth Market venue and home to more creative businesses and architects per square mile than anywhere else on the planet, making it truly one of the most important design hubs in the world. So when The Glam Hatters were asked to host a fascinator making workshop at Clerkenwell Design Week we were more than a little excited!

These fearless females dived straight in to hat boxes of materials choosing striking colour combinations and sculpting statement headwear. They bonded over colour way choices and giggled over sewing skills and absolutely all of them made a headpiece they would be proud to wear to an event.

This is our first foray into the corporate world and it felt kind of unusual to be running a fascinator making afternoon tea party on a Tuesday! Surrounded by all things super-tech our corporate creatives had a ball getting back-to-basics with hand sewing and beading techniques.

We moved aside the wireless phone charges so as not to spill bubbly or dollop cream on them during the break!

You can see from the results that these girls went for it with their designs and they looked awesome!

Clerkenwell Design Week has created a showcase of leading UK and international brands and companies presented in a series of showroom events, pop-up exhibitions and special installations that take place across the area. Celebrating it’s 7th year in May 2016 (24-26) the award-winning* CDW has firmly established itself as the UK’s leading independent design festival and annually attracts the international design community to this small area of London for three days of exciting events. In 2014, the design community flocked to Clerkenwell with 32,300 attendees and over 300 exhibiting brands. CDW has been awarded Best Live Event at the AEO Awards 2013 and Best Festival and Best Cultural Event at the UK Event Awards 2012.
